Wedding Wednesday: The Proposal Story

Orlando Eye

Last year my birthday was unforgettable. I had just gotten back from a family cruise and Greg met me in Orlando to celebrate. The day before my birthday we ended up going to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and Disney Springs. We had dinner at the T-Rex Cafe – one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando. I highly recommend it for families because it’s so much fun and they decorated it to look like a dinosaur cave!

On the next day, my actual birthday, Greg planned the whole day out and it was filled with surprises. We went for a drive and he tricked me into thinking we were going to Ripley’s Believe it or Not, but then he kept driving and we parked by the Orlando Eye (an observation wheel that is similar to the London Eye). We got our tickets and then walked into the Orlando Eye building. Things started to get interesting after we entered the attraction, because the staff separated us from the rest of the group and sat us in a private room. We were then escorted to our own private pod and next thing you know it, we’re high in the sky overlooking all of Orlando. I kind of noticed that Greg seemed nervous, but I thought he was just anxious since he’s scared of heights. Once we got to the top of the Orlando Eye – the highest point looking over Orlando, Greg proposed!

All I did was cry, cry, and cry some more. I was so happy! It still seems so surreal to me, even after a couple of months later. Once we got off the attraction, the staff at the Orlando Eye were all clapping and cheering. Greg took me to Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant for lunch and then we drove back home to have a family birthday/engagement dinner celebration. It was the best day of my life.
