If you follow me on social media, you know that I have a lot of hair! Some days my hair is curly and voluminous, other days it is bouncy and blown out. Last year I experimented with a couple of different hair products and tools to find my staple products, and I’ve finally narrowed down my top picks to share with you all.
Everyday curl products
If you have curly or wavy hair, moisture is a big deal. My hair definitely changes throughout the year and living in Florida means the potential for frizz due to endless humidity. In the past, I’d use hairspray, gel, mousse, sea salt spray – anything to get my hair to play nice, but I noticed that my hair was drying out. Now I’ve streamlined my curly hair process to just a few products that keep my hair hydrated and healthy.
Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat & UV Protective Primer: I absolutely love this primer. It works as a detangler and makes it so easy for me to style my curls.
Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner: My curls can never have too much conditioner, so after I spritz on the invisible oil primer, my next step is to apply a quarter sized amount of this leave in and then scrunch my curls with my hands.
Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel: This gel has a water like consistency and is very lightweight. A little goes a long way to add hold without any crunchiness.
Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Featherlight Styling Cream: I love this cream gel because it also adds a bit of hold while encouraging bouncy curls to blossom throughout the day.
Once I’ve applied the above four products, I head out the door and let my hair air dry. I love my second day curls and sometimes I use a curling iron for the front pieces of my hair to give them a bit more definition.
Must have styling tools
I usually keep my hair naturally curly 90% of the time. I feel like curly hair is so unique, so I don’t straighten my hair very often. If I am wearing my hair straight, my go-to tools are the Dyson Airwrap, Kristin Ess 3-in-1 flat iron, and Kristin Ess 1 inch curling iron. Each of these tools are fantastic!
The Dyson Airwrap was a serious game changer for my hair. I used to go to the salon to have my hair blown out, because it would take me hours at home to straighten my hair. I always felt like I was burning my hair, because my heat settings were way too high on my styling tools. With the Airwrap, I’ve completely stopped visiting the hair salon because I can get a salon worthy blowout at home. The Airwrap features a couple different hair tool attachments – a blow dryer attachment, curling barrels, smoothing brushes and a round brush attachment. I frequently use the smoothing brush and the blow dryer attachment.
Kristin Ess blew me away with her hair collection. I love that her hair tools are made with titanium. It promotes shine and is fantastic for people with thick hair. I typically use my Dyson Airwrap to blowout my hair, and then I follow it up with either the flat iron or curling iron depending on my desired look.
Products I use when straightening my hair
There are so many different hair products to use when straightening out hair. I’ve tried oils, serums, sprays, creams and more, but I’ve found for my hair that creating a cocktail of just a few products can leave my hair smooth and shiny for a whole week!
Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil: After I get out of the shower, I apply a dime sized amount of this oil to my damp hair. I focus on the middle to end of my hair with this product, to tame any frizz and get my hair prepped for the blow dry. It smells so good!
Briogeo Farewell Frizz Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème: I use this creme as a heat protectant and another layer of frizz protection. A little goes a long way with this product and it also helps to detangle my hair.
DREAM COAT Anti-Humidity Hair Treatment: I had seen a bunch of posts about this product on Instagram, so I had to give it a try. This product is a leave-in spray that coats the hair and helps to shorten blow dry time. It cut my blow dry time in half and keeps my blowout lasting for up to a week! Definitely recommend giving this product a try!
