It’s hard to believe that 2017 is a day away from being over! This year has been adventurous, fun, and challenging to say the least. While I can’t wait for what 2018 brings, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite moments from 2017. I feel very blessed to have traveled so much this year and I look forward to exploring more states in the new year. Let’s take a peak back into this awesome year:
Trip to Puerto Rico
If you read my travel bucket list post earlier in the year, you’ll know that Puerto Rico was on my list of places I couldn’t wait to visit. I ended up winning a work trip to PR and Greg got to go on the trip with me! We spent a couple of days at El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo. The resort is absolutely beautiful and so relaxing! My hope is that the resort will be able to be restored back to its original state after the crazy hurricanes over the summer.
Another work trip led me to South By Southwest in Austin, Texas. It was a whirlwind experience where I worked 12-14 hour days, but it was so worth it! I had never been to Texas before and Austin is such a lively city. I loved how you could walk around the streets similar to Manhattan but the temperatures were closer to Florida weather. The architecture in the city is so pretty as well! If you end up visiting, I definitely recommend staying at Hotel Eleven.
Universal Studios & Jimmy Fallon
My family and I were lucky enough to score tickets to the Tonight Show when they came down to Orlando! It was awesome getting to see Jimmy Fallon in person and his show was so energetic! Once the show was over we were given passes to walk around Universal Studios for the rest of the day for free! I love Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios so it was a great treat!
Miami Beach Getaway
One of my favorite vacations this year was the mini getaway to Miami Beach. Greg and I needed a break from work and so we packed our bags and headed down to Miami Beach for a weekend. We stayed at The Redbury Hotel in South Beach and it was stunning! I wrote a blog post about the entire trip with food and activity recommendations that you can read here.
Carnival Summer Cruise
My family and I visited the Bahamas at the start of summer on a Carnival cruise ship. We indulged in a ton of yummy food and got to explore the Bahamas. I loved the beach excursions and the water toys!
For Greg’s birthday I surprised him with tickets to indoor skydiving at iFly in Tampa. Greg is terrified of outdoor skydiving but was totally excited for indoor skydiving. He was great at it…I was not!! It was a ton of fun though so definitely try it if you have one nearby!
Quick Trip to Soho
I spent a day in Soho, NY over the summer to visit with my fellow Emma Bowen Foundation interns. I have never visited Soho in all my New York travels so it was a really nice change of scenery. I stayed at Public and it is one of the best hotels I’ve ever been too. The front lobby is really cool with light up escalators and a quaint restaurant in the back. My room was super luxurious with modern amenities and it was pretty affordable!
My 27th Birthday
My birthday lasted a whole week this year! I had my friends take me out to a couple of different restaurants and my family also spent the day with me going to breakfast and then going to an escape room! Then Greg took me out over the weekend to Orlando and we had lunch at this awesome restaurant, Rocco’s Tacos!
This Halloween was filled with several fun parties. I attended a Witches Brew, threw a family Halloween gathering at the house, went to a family friend’s house party and celebrated with my bested friends at our annual Halloween bash. Mariana and Khaled hosted the party at their clubhouse and setup an awesome photo booth. Greg dressed up as a robot and I dressed up as a minion – the perfect pair! It was such a fun time and I love Halloween so much!
Fall Photo Shoot
Greg finally convinced me to do a fashion photo shoot with him! I feel so lucky to have an amazing photographer as my husband! We went around Hyde Park Village and took a couple of cute photos with different outfits. I look forward to sharing more fashion posts in the new year!
I have to say that Thanksgiving is always one of my favorite holidays! We tend to celebrate the holiday at my parents’ house and this year we played a ton of fun games. I’m usually the game master so I have such a great time rounding up new games to play each year! It’s always so nice to spend time with my family, especially because our family is huge! Our tradition is to eat yummy food, play games and then work it all off with Black Friday shopping! I was able to score some great deals at Target this year!
This year Greg and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary! Time flies when you’re having fun with your soulmate! We kicked off our anniversary trip with a couple of bites of our wedding cake! Greg and I accidentally both ordered a small anniversary cake for each other by surprise so that was a funny experience! We then headed out to Savannah for the weekend and stayed at the most amazing hotel – The Brice Hotel! We loved everything about the hotel – the location is so close to River Street and they let you rent out bikes to ride around the city. I think Greg and I could both see ourselves living in Savannah so we love traveling there and might make a yearly trip of it! If you find yourself visiting Savannah, make sure to stop at Little Duck Diner for the perfect lunch!
Christmas in Tennessee
Our last trip of 2017 was just last week! We traveled up to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to stay in a cozy cabin. I definitely recommend visiting Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge – it is so cool! The Island in Pigeon Forge is the perfect place to take a bunch of photos and it even has a wheel attraction ride! On one of the nights it got so cold that we saw snow! It was an unforgettable family trip and I’ll probably follow it up with a full blog post soon!
